Taansen Fairmont Sumeru: From Time Travel to Trusts

Taansen Fairmont Sumeru’s life is anything but ordinary. Raised across the U.S. and Europe, he grew up with a suitcase in one hand and a deep spiritual curiosity in the other. His father worked for the U.S. Civil Service, which meant constant relocation—but also constant learning. Taansen credits his tightly bonded family and frequent moves for shaping his global mindset and open-hearted approach to life.

From a young age, he showed a deep interest in consciousness, meditation, and ancient knowledge. That led him to study at Maharishi International University in Iowa and later at Maharishi European Research University in Switzerland. It was there, in 1976, that a meditation retreat gave him a powerful experience that would define his life’s work: a two-hour vision of the “Golden Age”—a peaceful, enlightened future that he believes is within reach for humanity. One year later, he was awarded the title “Governor of the Age of Enlightenment.”

But Taansen didn’t stay in the clouds. Instead, he built systems here on Earth—literally. In 1993, he began managing natural law trusts designed to offer asset protection and legal sovereignty. He also created a system for cancelling unsecured debts, which he says has helped hundreds of people navigate out of burdens they once thought impossible to escape.

He founded Brilliance in Commerce to bring these methods together under one umbrella. Since then, he’s spoken at international investment conferences, launched educational platforms, written several books, and even attempted to create a spiritually themed film company. While the funding didn’t materialize, the vision didn’t fade.

Taansen’s world bridges the mystical and the methodical. He’s equal parts teacher and tactician. Meditation remains his daily anchor. “No outer success ever beats the joy of going inward,” he’s said. Whether he’s helping someone understand complex financial tools or reflecting on ancient Vedic science, his mission is clear: to build a better world — one that honors both the soul and the system.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?

I’m the founder of Brilliance in Commerce, where we help people with legal systems like natural law trusts and debt cancellation strategies. But more than that, I consider myself a lifelong student and teacher of consciousness. My work combines spiritual principles with lawful, non-violent tools that allow people to take more control over their lives.

How would you describe your personal or professional vibe in 3 words?

Visionary — Because everything I’ve done came from that vision in Switzerland. Grounded — Even with all the spiritual ideas, I work with very practical systems. Resilient — Every setback became a reason to deepen my clarity and come back stronger.

What’s one fun fact about you most people don’t know?

In 1976, during a meditation retreat in Switzerland, I had what felt like a time travel experience. For two hours, I saw a future world—a peaceful, advanced society that I call the Golden Age. It may sound far out, but it’s what set everything in motion for me.

What’s your favorite TV show right now?

I really enjoy the Maharishi Channel. It’s a unique, independently produced series. It’s spiritually grounded but very human, and I find that balance refreshing.

What’s your most-used social media app these days?

YouTube. I use it to watch interviews, spiritual talks, and legal education videos. It’s a rabbit hole, but sometimes you find real gems.

Be sure to check out our Top YouTube Creators list.

What was the first social media app you ever joined?

Telegram. I resisted it for a while, but eventually joined to connect with my global network and community. It’s a mix of spiritual posts, trust law education, and the occasional photo from my travels.

Are there any influencers or creators you never miss content from?

Dr. David R. Hawkins was a big influence. While he’s passed on, his lectures on consciousness are still circulating, and I revisit them often. Also, I follow Sadhguru’s teachings now and then — they bring a very grounded perspective.

Are there any must-follow accounts or pages for people in your industry?

The Brilliance in Commerce YouTube and newsletter archives are valuable if you’re into trust law or legal sovereignty. I’d also recommend Natural Law Trust’s educational site — it’s where a lot of foundational content lives.

Do you listen to any podcasts related to your field or niche?

Yes — Charles Miller’s work has been very eye-opening when it comes to understanding how law intersects with sovereignty. I’ve also been interviewed on a few podcasts about debt law and consciousness, and those conversations often lead to deeper reflection.

What’s the best advice you’ve heard from a podcast or interview?

"Nirvata tvam." It means, wherever you find yourself, in whatever situation or state of mind, go beyond it. Transcend. Ultimately transcend everything. Also, “Hold the Light of the Vision.” I’ve said it myself in interviews, and it still rings true. No matter the noise, the setbacks, or the outside world, just keep holding that light.

If you could collab with any influencer or celeb, who would it be?

Avatar Sri Bhagavan. He speaks about spirituality, systems, and awakening in ways that reach a large audience. I think our ideas would overlap well, and the conversation would be dynamic.

What’s a habit, hack, or tool you swear by for staying informed or inspired?

Daily deep meditation. It’s not just a break from work — it’s where I go to listen, reset, and recharge. Everything else flows from that stillness.
