Toronto-based real estate broker Michelle Kam has built her career in one of Canada’s most competitive property markets. After graduating with honours from York University, she joined Re/Max and quickly rose through the ranks, selling high-end homes and later carving out a niche in the urban condo, loft, and townhome scene. Her work with leading firms like Concord Alex and Baker Real Estate gave her a deep understanding of the pre-construction market, and she eventually founded her own brokerage, City Accord Realty Inc., which she ran successfully for over a decade.
In 2016, she returned to the Re/Max brand, joining Re/Max Condos Plus, where she continues to lead with expertise, adaptability, and vision. But beyond the deals, contracts, and long days in Toronto’s bustling property sector, Michelle Kam is someone who loves pop culture, podcasts, and the occasional guilty-pleasure binge-watch. We caught up with her for a “slice of life” chat about the entertainment she enjoys, the social media she uses, and the small habits that keep her inspired.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
I’m a real estate broker based in Toronto, working with Re/Max Condos Plus. I’ve been in the industry for quite a while, starting out with resale homes and later diving deep into the condo and loft market. I love what I do because every client and every property is different—it keeps things fresh and challenging.
How would you describe your personal or professional vibe in 3 words?
Driven, approachable, and curious.
What’s one fun fact about you most people don’t know?
I can read a floor plan like most people read a novel. I’ll spot small details instantly, which can be a blessing (or a curse) when I’m watching design shows at home!
What’s your favorite TV show right now?
Selling Sunset. I know it’s a bit on the nose since it’s about real estate, but I watch it less for the property and more for the drama and fashion. It’s entertaining and it’s fun to see how other markets operate, even if it’s heightened for television.
What’s your most-used social media app these days?
Instagram. It’s where clients, colleagues, and friends connect. I love the visual side of it—seeing design ideas, market updates, or even just food posts. It feels like a quick window into so many worlds.

What was the first social media app you ever joined?
Facebook. Back then it was more about reconnecting with old classmates, which was fun. Now it feels more like a news feed, but it still has its place.
Are there any influencers or creators you never miss content from?
I follow Bryan Baeumler from HGTV. His take on construction and design is practical and inspiring, especially for anyone who loves both the industry and lifestyle side of real estate.
Are there any must-follow accounts or pages for people in your industry?
Toronto Storeys on Instagram is great. It’s a mix of market insights, development updates, and interesting local news. It helps me stay plugged into what’s going on in the city.
Do you listen to any podcasts related to your field or niche?
Yes, The Real Estate Guys Radio Show. It’s U.S.-focused, but I enjoy how they dig into trends and ideas that can cross markets.
What’s the best advice you’ve heard from a podcast or interview?
“Don’t time the market, spend time in the market.” That stuck with me because it applies not only to real estate but also to careers in general. Consistency usually wins out over waiting for the perfect moment.
If you could collab with any influencer or celeb, who would it be?
Drew and Jonathan Scott—the Property Brothers. They’re from Canada, they’re fun, and they bridge the gap between design and real estate in a way people love.
What’s a habit, hack, or tool you swear by for staying informed or inspired?
I set aside fifteen minutes every morning just to read property news, design blogs, or even lifestyle pieces. It keeps me feeling ahead of the curve and sparks new ideas for my work and life.
