Andrew Draayer grew up as the ninth of ten kids in a military household, with his dad serving as a Colonel in the Air Force and his mom working as a nurse. Born in Utah, he spent his early years in Northern California before moving to Arizona at age 11. Being the youngest brother meant he was often the “guinea pig” for his siblings’ adventures, which gave him toughness and a playful edge.
Sports shaped much of his early life. He thrived in baseball and football, winning a state championship in 2004 at Hamilton High School. He also became the first student to win the school’s Mr. HHS contest, performing MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” and learning the value of confidence and connection.
After graduation, Andrew took a cross-country bus trip and started a career in door-to-door sales. He knocked on doors in 41 states, sharpening his communication and resilience. Over time, he rose to the top ranks of his sales company before shifting into real estate investing when his first child was born. Today, he is an owner-investor, a husband, and a father of three, passionate about sports, family, and giving back to his community.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
I’m a husband, a dad of three, and I work as an owner-investor. My career started with years of door-to-door sales, knocking on doors in 41 states, before shifting into real estate investing. These days, I focus on finding opportunities where I can use my communication skills and business instincts while making time for my family and community.
How would you describe your personal or professional vibe in 3 words?
Energetic, resilient, and approachable. I’m energetic because I thrive on staying active, whether it’s in business, basketball, or golf. Resilient because I’ve heard “no” thousands of times and learned to push through it. Approachable because I enjoy connecting with people, listening to their stories, and finding ways to help.
What’s one fun fact about you most people don’t know?
In high school, I won a contest called Mr. HHS by dancing to MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This.” I wasn’t the best dancer, but I gave it everything and had the crowd laughing. That moment taught me how far confidence and humor can go when you’re trying something new.
What’s your favorite TV show right now?
Right now, I’m watching Suits on Netflix. I like the mix of strategy, competition, and humor in the show. It’s entertaining, but I also enjoy seeing how the characters use negotiation and communication in every situation.
What’s your most-used social media app these days?
Instagram. I use it to keep up with friends, share family moments, and follow accounts that inspire me. I like how visual it is—it feels quick but still personal.
Check out our Top Influencers and Celebrities on Instagram list.
What was the first social media app you ever joined?
Facebook was my first. Back then, it was all about connecting with high school and college friends. I still use it sometimes, but Instagram has taken over as my go-to.
Are there any influencers or creators you never miss content from?
I always check out content from Gary Vaynerchuk. I like his straight talk and energy around business and mindset. I also watch golf creators on YouTube who break down swings and strategies—it keeps me learning in a fun way.
Are there any must-follow accounts or pages for people in your industry?
For real estate, I’d say BiggerPockets is a must. They share practical advice, interviews, and stories from investors at all levels. It’s a good mix of motivation and useful information.
Do you listen to any podcasts related to your field or niche?
Yes, I listen to the BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast. It covers a lot of ground and gives insights from people who have been through the ups and downs. I also listen to The Ed Mylett Show for mindset and personal growth.
What’s the best advice you’ve heard from a podcast or interview?
From The Ed Mylett Show, one line stuck with me: “You’re only one decision away from a completely different life.” It reminds me that even small actions—knocking on one more door or making one more call—can change everything.
If you could collab with any influencer or celeb, who would it be?
I’d like to collab with someone like Phil Mickelson. I’m obsessed with golf, and learning directly from a pro would be incredible. It would be fun to mix golf lessons with conversations about discipline and mindset.
What’s a habit, hack, or tool you swear by for staying informed or inspired?
I keep a small notebook with me. Anytime I hear a good idea or think of something I want to try, I write it down. Later, I can go back, reflect, and act on it. It sounds simple, but it keeps me from losing ideas and helps me stay focused.
